Job ads up 1.9% nationally in June 2025

Australia’s job market recorded a 1.9% rise in online job ads last month (seasonally adjusted). Advertisements increased across all major occupation groups, with Technicians and Trades Workers seeing the biggest lift. Growth was also seen across all skill levels and in most states and territories.

Despite this monthly rise, job ads were down 6.7% over the past year. The drop was more pronounced in capital cities than in regional areas.

Vacant Australia: the uneven geography of internet vacancies

This month’s report takes a closer look at regional Australia’s diverse labour markets. Differences in population, resources and infrastructure mean each region faces its own challenges and opportunities.

When grouped by remoteness, the data reveals distinct patterns of labour demand across the country. It also highlights areas where labour markets remain tight, with vacancy rates shaped by employment growth and the number of online job ads in each area.
