Australia’s job seekers, students and employers have a powerful way to navigate the labour market, with updated Occupation and Industry Profiles delivering fresh insights into employment trends, wages, skills and education pathways across hundreds of occupations and major industries.
Among the latest findings, medical professions continue to dominate the list of highest-paid occupations. Surgeons had median weekly earnings of $3,905 in May 2025, while Specialist Physicians earn $3,620.
The data also highlights stark differences between industries. Mining stands out for its overwhelmingly full-time workforce, with 95 per cent of workers employed on a full-time basis, the highest rate across all industries.
Agriculture reveals an ageing workforce. Livestock Farmers are among the oldest occupational groups in the country, with a median age of 60.
Our next data update is expected to be in November 2026. The Australian Bureau of Statistics is currently modernising the Labour Force Survey, the main source for regular employment data that we include. They are phasing in changes to their data collection over several months, commencing in April. During this transition, some data, including industry and occupation data, will be temporarily unavailable.
