Jobs and Skills Australia has launched new occupation profiles based on the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA), providing a single, easy-to-use way to explore Australia’s workforce.
Built on Australia’s newest occupational classification, the profiles will provide an increasingly rich picture of Australia’s labour market. Initially using 2021 Census data, the resource will progressively incorporate enhanced datasets such as Labour Force Survey data, Employment Projections, median earnings and other workforce indicators.
The new profiles combine labour market data with detailed occupation information, giving users access to insights on employment, workforce demographics, industries, skills, licensing requirements and more. Interactive visualisations help bring the data to life, supporting students, job seekers, employers, researchers and policymakers to make informed decisions.
OSCA has been designed to better reflect today’s contemporary labour market, recognising emerging occupations such as Rideshare Driver, Data Scientist, Cyber Security Analyst and Content Creator (social media). It also expands occupations that were previously grouped together, such as separating categories within the former ANZSCO occupation Aged and Disabled Carers into distinct occupations, providing a more accurate view of Australia’s evolving workforce.
