The latest Australian Labour Market for Migrants report offers a valuable snapshot of employment conditions across the country. While Australia’s labour market continues to perform well, there are signs of further softening in some areas. Over the year to May 2025, the report found:
- Job growth varied across industries, with the strongest gains for Professionals, Community and Personal Service Workers, and Technicians and Trades Workers.
- Most states and territories recorded an increase in the share of workers employed in key occupation groups, except Tasmania.
- The ACT had the lowest unemployment rate at 3.4% while Victoria posted the highest unemployment rate at 4.4%.
