A new Generative AI report, from Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA), presents a view of how Gen AI is starting to reshape the world of work.
The report offers a whole-of-labour-market perspective, outlining Gen AI’s transformative potential to boost productivity and create new ways of working.
AI is starting to change the way we work. JSA finds that generative AI is more likely to augment human work than replace it.
However, Australia’s adoption of AI is still early and varies across industries. A big part of the early story has been individual workers experimenting with the technology, and how to use it to augment their work.
The report also highlights the importance of people having the right digital and AI skills for a modern labour market, along with complementary human skills. Australia is at the beginning of an exciting evolution, and we must ensure we bring our people with us, through upskilling, training and capacity building.
Adaptability will be critical for Australia to realise the potential benefits from AI, which will see new jobs emerge and existing jobs change.
