Personal information
Personal information is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and refers to information or an opinion about an identifiable individual. Examples include an individual’s name and contact details, sex or gender, opinions or feedback, and sensitive information.
Sensitive information includes details about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or associations, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation or practices, criminal record, and health or genetic information and some aspects of biometric information.
If you choose to provide sensitive information in your interactions with Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA), you will be taken to have consented to JSA’s collection of that sensitive information. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
Collection of your information
JSA collects personal information when you participate in and inform our research, provide views and insights into our studies and consultations, attend our presentations, or engage with us in the delivery of our work. We collect personal information in person, through electronic communication, and via third-party providers such as Qualtrics, Converlens and SurveyMonkey for online surveys and consultations, and Mailchimp and Eventbrite for marketing and event management services.
Purpose of collecting your personal information
JSA collects your personal information to properly and effectively manage the type of engagement you have with JSA including:
- managing an enquiry from you
- handling and resolving a complaint you have made
- informing you of other JSA initiatives and events
- organising a JSA event booking you have requested
- reviewing and managing feedback and submissions you have provided to JSA
- acknowledging your contributions to JSA’s studies, consultations and publications.
If JSA does not collect your personal information, we may not be able to deliver our operational, legislative and administrative functions effectively.
Disclosure of your personal information
Where permitted under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), your personal information may be used for a secondary purpose. It may be disclosed to third parties including but not limited to providers of online survey and consultation platforms, providers of digital marketing, and event management services for example Qualtrics, Converlens, SurveyMonkey, Mailchimp and Eventbrite.
Your personal information may also be disclosed to third parties based overseas where you have agreed or where it is permitted under the Privacy Act. Such disclosure will only occur under conditions outlined in JSA’s Privacy Policy.
JSA may disclose your personal information when required or authorised by law.
