Recruitment activity continued to rise in May, with the latest Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey (REOS) showing a slight lift in the recruitment rate, well above the low point seen in October last year.
The number of employers hiring is trending up, even as other surveys report fewer advertised job vacancies. This may be because more employers are filling roles quickly without relying on internet job boards.
That speed in hiring is also helping to ease recruitment pressures. While there’s been a slight upward trend recently, the overall difficulty of filling roles has been trending down over time, especially in capital cities. In regional areas however, recruitment difficulty has held steady compared to this time last year.
