The departure of Jobs and Skills Australia’s (JSA) Commissioner, Professor Barney Glover, has been announced today by Minister for Education the Hon Jason Clare MP and Minister for Skills and Training the Hon Andrew Giles MP.
Professor Glover is taking up the role of Australian Tertiary Education Commissioner, following his interim and acting commissioner roles with the Australian Tertiary Education Commissioner since its inception on 1 July 2025.
As the Commissioner of JSA since April 2024, Professor Glover provided strong leadership and oversaw the delivery of numerous groundbreaking research projects during his time with JSA. Notably, these included Australia’s seminal ‘Our Gen AI Transition’ report, which provided the first national view of the impacts of AI on the labour market, and the ‘Early Childhood Education and Care’ study, which led to significant changes in the sector, such as increases in pay rates.
Professor Glover will conclude his term at JSA on 30 June 2026. Deputy Commissioners Megan Lilly and Trevor Gauld will continue to lead JSA until a new Commissioner is appointed by the Government.
