Australia’s labour market remains resilient, although there are signs that conditions are beginning to soften, according to the latest Australian Labour Market for Migrants – July 2026 report.
Employment outcomes for migrants vary depending on factors including skill level, English language proficiency, relevant work experience, age and time since arriving in Australia.
The report’s Hot Topic explores the contribution of Temporary Graduate visa holders to Australia’s workforce. Temporary Graduate visa holders are employed across a diverse range of industries, including finance, retail, hospitality, information and communications technology (ICT), aged care, accounting and health care.
Most employed Temporary Graduate visa holders were working in occupations requiring a Bachelor degree or higher qualification, particularly in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Job vacancy trends also point to changing patterns of labour demand. While vacancies have eased across many occupations, demand continues to grow for key roles including Medical Practitioners, Nurses and Mobile Plant Operators.
