Our acting Commissioner, David Turvey, was appointed on 7 October 2023.
Mr Turvey played an instrumental role in the establishment of Jobs and Skills Australia as its First Assistant Secretary. David is an accomplished public service leader and economist.
Mr Turvey has almost 30 years of public service experience in a range of roles in public policy spanning the labour market, skills, education, industry, innovation, fiscal and economic policy.
David replaces Professor Peter Dawkins AO, who was appointed Director of Jobs and Skills Australia in November 2022 and acting Commissioner in August 2023.
Jobs and Skills Australia is a secondary statutory authority attached to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). The acting Commissioner is directly accountable to the Minister for Skills and Training, the Hon. Brendan O’Connor.
